Take the Risks - its always relative

“The biggest risk is not taking any risks.” Mark Zuckerberg

There is one reason to lie, you think you have something to lose.

Sure you might lose a boyfriend for saying something that they find hurtful. Sure you might lose an investor for choosing ethically if the margins are affected.

You might lose your job if you tell your manager that his leadership is manipulative.

And yes, Twitter might send you to hell if your words don’t land well.

You can lose everything. But only everything for now, at this moment, with these people. Not everything forever, at all moments, with all people.

“Now” might just be a few weeks or a few months, maybe a couple of years at most if it's something really challenging. But what’s two years of a nasty divorce, for a lifetime of love?

Or two years of financial discomfort for a life of passion.

What’s a minor inconvenience for a lifetime of freedom?

In that sense, there are no absolute risks, only relative ones. Your deaths only create space for new births. Your endings always create new beginnings.

Provided that you are not crossing any criminal boundaries, you’ll find that there are no absolute risks to speaking your truths.

Do not cheat, steal, abuse or kill. Basic tenets from the religious books, the judicial law and the universe. No need to be a genius to figure this out.

If you step into the criminal zone, you might find the rest of your days in a cell. That is an absolute risk. But even if you get out of that cell, you’ll find the world can still be a forgiving place.

Some of the worst crimes have been overlooked and people have seamlessly reintegrated into society, made more money than ever and left this world as icons.

Some of them are trying to live better and more honorable lives. Nothing wrong with that. But all this is the antithesis of being honest, so no real worries here if your goal is to die and start living.?

When you realize that these are the only real absolute boundaries then you’ll find that the rest of the space to play, speak and express is boundary-less.

You’ll find that the world is abundant with opportunity in every respect that you can imagine.

And you’ll find that for every situation where you think you might lose it all for being who you truly are, there is light on the other side of that bias.

But this is not some spiritual affair. It would help you a lot to know that “what you think you create,” and therefore you can create any reality. But sometimes it's worth seeing the logical side of things so that you do not lose hope when your fears grow out of proportion.?I will talk share more on the logic next week.

For now, here are 3 reflections:

  1. What is one thing you really need to say someone that would possibly create chaos in the short run but change your life in the long run?
  2. Is the pain that comes from speaking that truth less than the pain of holding it in?
  3. If you think you have something to lose, is that really true?
