Every year, we go to Winterfest at King's Island to kick off the holiday season! We love seeing all the lights, ice skating & a cup of hot cocoa. Last year we even got engaged there!

We celebrate our Christmas in July camping for a week. We exchange gifts and we sometimes sings Christmas songs around the campfire. Also, we do decorate a little Christmas tree. Our second tradition is gathering together to make Christmas cookies and then we all go see the zoo lights.

When I was young my Dad started a tradition of reading the Christmas Story from the book Luke before we opened presents and we would pray. When I became a parent I continued this tradition and I hope my daughter will continue this tradition with her kids and grandkids. Sometimes I read from either Matthew or Isaiah. The birth of Christ is why we celebrate Christmas and I just love this tradition. Also, another tradition my Dad started was he always made us open presents starting from the youngest to oldest with each person opening their gifts then onto the next person. We spend alot of time purchasing and wrapping so it is only fitting we take time to open and appreciate them as well. I even make them say who it is from. Traditions are a wonderful thing and it makes Christmas even more special because we look forward to those traditions.

Our holiday tradition is getting up on Christmas morning to open presents with our animals. Spending the afternoon with my side of the family, and spending the evening with Ricky's side of the family. We have alot of good food and some relaxing time with family.

Our favorite family tradition is to wear matching pajamas, which gets delivered by "Father Christmas" (me) on Christmas Eve. This Christmas Eve tradition has grown so large, that it has extended to our in-laws and siblings and their families, upwards of 20+ matching pajamas.
