Sage Dental's Patient Support Team (PST) is taking the phrase "team environment" to a new level. Enrique Devine, the Director of Sage Dental's Patient Support Team, speaks on what makes Sage's call center an excellent place to grow your career in a culture-driven environment.

Tell us about your role at Sage and why you choose to work here.

ED: I've been with Sage for nearly two years as the Director of the Patient Support Team. In this role, I oversee the NP (new patient) contact center. We're the 1st touch point for NPs who start their Sage journey. Our role is to provide exceptional customer service while scheduling NP appointments across ALL our Sage locations.????

?The two main reasons I decided to join Sage were: 1. The culture that values the "employee" and fosters an environment of collaboration that spurs innovation and allows us to push and build upon the future of dentistry. 2. Growth – at the beginning of my tenure Sage had approx. 50 locations, and through the execution of its growth strategy has over 80 locations.

What makes working in the PST Call Center unique?

ED: Culture: a TRUE family / TEAM environment with a core emphasis on professional development. It's our job as MGMT to help open doors for promotion/career advancement for colleagues with a proven work performance history. Sage is a huge proponent of internal promotion, and numerous PST (Call Center) employees have advanced both within the department and in other departments such as Marketing, Operations, IVC, and Clinical. 100% of our promotions within the Call Center are internal.

What are the benefits and features of working in PST?

ED: We offer monthly bonuses, monthly gift cards, and quarterly contests with great prizes such as 70" TVs, iPads, Air Pod Pros, Nintendo Switches, etc. Our environment is heavily driven to reward agents for their hard work and accomplishments.

Describe the leadership in Sage's Call Center and that relationship with the reps.

ED: Patient support leadership BELIEVES in reinforcing the FAMILY culture daily. Production is always an element with any employer, but it's always easier to achieve success as a TEAM who truly values and respects each other. We're a passionate team that enjoys helping our patients achieve better oral health. We also challenge each other to achieve professional growth and career advancement.?

What type of professional advancement have you witnessed with employees in Sage's Call Center?

ED: A Senior and an Associate Manager were both promoted from various departmental roles to their current titles. One had been with Sage for seven years, and the other had six years of service. ALL Team Leads, Senior Coordinators, Quality Assurance, and management positions were filled by internal promotions. We're happy to see that 25% of the team has been within PST for 3+ years, as well as a few individuals with over ten years of service.

The original PST actually cared for patients. It was an amazing place to work in 2013. It got lost in the corporate greed. They treated their employees like crap, now a call center just like Aspen Dental, patients are only a dollar sign! ?I’m thankful to Paige and Ed and the training I got that allowed me to persue my dental career, but it’s pretty sad the way PST is now. Patients are just a $$$$sign

I enjoy working with Enrique, other PST leaders, and the PST team. I write software and provide access to data to aid them in providing excellent care to all our patients. They hold themselves to a high standard and do the same to me.
