Take Oscar's Advice: It's award winning!

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

“I didn’t know what to say” –is a line that executives, managers, supervisors, colleagues and working girls have said more than once.? Indeed, after more than 30 years, of teaching in highly ranked executive education programs, speaking to countless organizations such as YPO, conducting seminars for The CIA, FBI, NSA , IRS, as well as the usual suspects in Corporate America, I can conclude with confidence that the majority of the working world frequently struggles to find the right words at the right time. ?

?? While there are countless “management? relationship gurus,” books, seminars courses and hundreds of work advice columns? that offer to help us navigate these close encounters of a difficult kind,? I’ve found you only need One —Oscar’s Advice. He won’t give you psychobabble or fantasy solutions; he’ll give you a? no-nonsense cut to the chase line , the one you need in your daily drama.? Here’s a sample of Oscar’s winning advice for common work scenarios:

Dear Oscar, What do you say ….?

  1. When a client you can’t stand threatens to leave:? Frankly, I don’t give dam.”
  2. When you are asked what you think of? an ineffective marketing plan- Stupid is as stupid does.
  3. When you are accused of harassing your assistant: I wouldn’t even hurt a fly.
  4. When your boss is stressed because? you are? taking maternity or paternity leave at a crucial time—I’ll be back
  5. When? your boss, colleague, or client asks ? for “honest” feedback: You can’t handle the truth
  6. When you can finally quit your job: Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.
  7. When you are asked for one word to describe your career: Rosebud
  8. When the FBI shows up to search your office: You had me at hello.
  9. When you become your boss’s boss:? Look at me.? Look at me.? I’m the Captain now!
  10. When a client takes you out for lunch and you are the first to order a drink: “A Martini, shaken, not stirred.”
  11. When the person you are mentoring asks for your best advice: Keep your friends close but your enemies closer.??
  12. When your? boss says, What can I do to keep you:? Show me the money!
  13. When you end an office affair: We’ll always have Paris.

I’ll add one more point: if you aren’t familiar with the lines, I think you’ll find tracking them down and watching the films from which they are from will be much more fun and beneficial (especially if you listen to Director’s commentary ) than reading the latest self-help business book, which in a matter of months will be gone with the wind.?
