Take It Off...
Hi.
One. Per. Week.
One identified problem. One recommended actionable tip.
Become more productive by doing less.
That's my promise to you each week.
The Problem:?I have so many apps on my mobile device
This week, let's pretend you and I are starting a conversation while sitting on a plane. We are on our way to a conference together to learn some new things and meet real people IRL (In Real Life) once again.
I buy the first round. Shaken, not stirred. Because, why not, we are in the first class cabin (smile, since it's a fictional situation and the drinks are "free" in first class).
ME: "Hey, how are you?"
YOU: [ checking your email at 35,601 feet ]
[ no response ]
Back in the day, I used to pay a fee each month to get internet access throughout my flights anywhere I traveled in the world.
I used to travel a lot. Delta airlines used to love me.
And.
I made sure that wherever I was -- whether at home, the office, on a plane, or sitting poolside [yeah right, OK, not really lol] -- I had my mobile device and lots of ways to stay connected with a multitude of apps.
I was "important".
[ spoiler alert: I still am (as are YOU my dear reader) ]
The Actionable Tip:?Remove Apps
These days, my mobile device is pretty application free.
Safari is removed (well, not accessible on my iPhone... this is a complete PITA to do, but it's possible).

No email client.
No slack app.
No WhatsApp or Facebook or TikTok (hmmm... I don't have accounts on any of those platforms anyway so it's no big loss).
No apps of note in reality.
This is related to the tip I gave in my last edition around turning off ALL your notifications.
Only I've amped it up a bitby not only turning off the notifications, but actually eliminating almost all of my apps.
Your Next Step...
Think about the problem and my actionable tip.
Now the tough part....
Remove ONE application from your mobile device.
Yes. You.
Just ONE.
Go.
In the comments below, share?ONE?actionable tip on which ONE application you might-could-would-did REMOVE from your mobile device today -- and why.
I sincerely appreciate it and look forward to learning more together with you.
Thank you.

2 年I think I'll kill my enterprise PM app. If I'm on a plane talking with you, or on PTO or in an emergency, I don't need to see all the work assignments and their threads. I will have either delegated that, or it can wait. Bye bye, work management app! RIP all you messages!
For a first attempt, I was able to remove 8 out of way too many apps.
