First, just take a breath.?
Wouldn’t you agree that we’re all still in shock over “that thing” that happened IRL at the Oscars last night??
There is no justification or rationale for that physical and verbal assault on Chris Rock. Period.
Never mind the video clips from the 2022 Oscars that will live on. The memory of that shocking episode has been burned into people’s consciousness. Every time we see Will Smith, we will remember and for better or worse, our opinion of him has been permanently altered.
This was a graphic reminder that our actions, our interactions with others, live on in their memories.?
So…before you pick up the phone to make another cold call, before your first conversation with a brand-new customer, before you respond to yet another customer support question, before you toss off an unguarded remark or response, just pause and take a breath.
It can impact your bottom line, for better or worse, emotionally, psychologically, personally, professionally. Most of all, it leaves a mark on your heart.

2 年The Academy says it “does not condone violence of any form.” But one aspect which seems missing in our ‘woke’ times is this question, is what Chris Rock said emotional violence? Comedians are fast to call what he said comedy but making fun of someone for what has been inflicted on them seems like kicking someone when they are down. Context also matters. This would be different if it were at a roast where this type of assault is expected. It might be different if one chooses to go to a comedy club to see someone mean like Chris Rock as it is your choice but I will bet real money that there were families watching whose mother looks like Jada. What did those mothers feel? What did their partners feel? What did their children feel when Rock made fun of a woman who has the same issues as their mother? My questions are these: Where is the apology from Chris Rock to Jada? Where is the apology from Chris Rock to the audience? Where is the apology from The Academy to Jada? Where is the apology from The Academy to the audience? If they truly do not condone violence of any form, emotional violence should not be happening and should be taken just as seriously.

2 年First off - all of that was staged. Second - before I meet with anyone or make a phone call - I always write down in a sentence or two (on a 3x5 card) - exactly what I would like the outcome to be. It keeps me focused. I have thousands of 3x5 cards. lol

2 年Feelings have come front and center - and acting on one's genuine feelings is now applauded as heroic, or courageous, when in fact it's typically just "base", or juvenile. I do feel for Will Smith and his situation. He's standing up for someone who has constantly eluded him; even in marriage. How does he maintain relevance in the life of the one he loves? He takes on the "protector" personality which encourages him to show "strength". Understanding is one thing; agreeing with his decision to physically assault is something completely different. Smith needs therapy.
