Take It Easy - Don't Let the Sound of Your Own Wheels Drive You Crazy

Take It Easy - Don't Let the Sound of Your Own Wheels Drive You Crazy

"Well I'm a-standin' on a corner in Winslow Arizona..." I bet you know this song, right?

I was humming it to myself earlier today in an vain attempt to "take it easy". It didn't work.

I have a client that, for lack of a better term, is "in a pickle" and I have been thinking about this day and night for a week now. I won't go into what the issue is because I don't want to bore you to tears but the harder I tried to focus, the more I came up "snake eyes." Just between us, I began to worry that I wasn't going to come up with anything.

Then, like a week ago, when I was out walking my dog, it just came to me. I hadn't been focusing on it. I hadn't been obsessing. It just came to me and after thinking through it, I have to say, it wasn't at all simple but it was pretty damned impressive.

I suppose I needed to give my brain the time to figure it out on its own time.

I went back to my client with a more "prettied up" version of the plan and starting today, we're putting it in motion. Fingers crossed.

The point of this ramble is that the fear of failure made me press and obsess more and more but once I learned to "take it easy," it made a huge difference.

Try that on for size and see what you can come up with.

"Lighten up while you still can. Don't even try to understand. Just find a place to make your stand..and take it easy."
