Mack's Note: Take A Cold Shower
Loren Mack
Senior Vice President Corporate Communications at Professional Fighters League
My good friend Rich Franklin is one of the greatest mixed martial artists in the history of the sport. He once held the designation of being the best fighter on the planet, a rare life achievement. There are fewer men and women with that distinction in history than there are US Presidents.
Above all else, Rich is truly a remarkable individual with unparalleled professionalism, work ethic and resolve. He is an inspiration to many, most of all to myself.
I witnessed many of his epic battles against the biggest names like Nate Quarry and Yushin Okami. Suffice to say, I am and will always be a fan.
My real friendship with Rich however derives from appreciation of the US Military. We share a tremendous gratitude towards the men and women who serve and protect the United States and our freedom.
Furthermore, Rich is a great mind. Today at breakfast, Rich told me he takes cold showers. I asked him why, and he said that when he was still an active fighter, he would do many things that would force him to live outside of his comfort zone, to think outside of the box.
It's an awesome principle that I think people should adopt more in their everyday lives. Challenge yourself daily to evolve as human beings. It doesn't have to be big right away, sometimes you can start small, like taking a cold shower.
There are many benefits to taking cold showers and I think I'll be doing that from now on.
