Take Charge of Your Growth Journey
LIFE LESSON
This week, I’m flipping the script, and asking YOU to do some work. Get a piece of paper (don’t type onto a keyboard for now). Writing has a different impact on your brain’s capacity for retention, curation and cognition. So if you want the best results from the following exercises, write.
First: list all of the things that went completely sideways. Deals that fell through. Relationships that ended, etc.
Second: Forgive everyone who had a part in the event, even (or especially) yourself.
Next: Write out the lesson or takeaway gleaned from the event and how you can apply it toward your growth journey.
Finally: Say thank you for the ability to review and release.
If you would like to make this a bit more woo woo, burn the paper that you’ve used for this exercise and say, “I release what no longer serves me to make room for what does.”
LIFE HACK
I have just completed a nine-day decluttering challenge as part of my “new year, new you” rituals. As a result, I have over 250 things gone from my home that I don’t even miss. These were items that either had no utility for me or my life any more, or were things I had negative feelings toward. An inexhaustive list included:
? Paperwork from an Order of Protection against a stalker
? Doo-dads and knick-knacks from events representing a former version of myself
领英推荐
? Supplies from DIY projects I will NEVER EVER complete
? Clothes that no longer fit
I either gave them away, shredded them, threw them in the trash, donated them or otherwise got them out of my house. Nature abhors a vacuum, and with those things gone, there is now space in my life for items, situations and people who align with the person I’m becoming.
I invite you to try it. Let me know how it goes.
TREAT
Here are a couple of things. One: if you haven’t checked out our 12 Days of Business & Balance Gift-a-Thon, you really should. There’s some great stuff there, and each item is FREE for 24 hours. Today’s is Triumph Over Chaos/Navigating Uncertainty. You can access the entire promotion for just $37.00, which is a seriously good deal.
The other is related to the goofy art used in today’s thumbnail. Want to generate your own Star Wars text scroll? Check this out. My geeky little heart exploded when I found it.
See you next year!
