Take A Chance
So many people in business these days are really closed off. I call them and they either say "not interested" or they hang up before even finding out why I'm calling. It's not just the calls either. Sometimes you send a simple intro email and get a "remove" message or quick response that they aren't interested.
You're Not Interested In WHAT?
I haven't even told you why I'm calling, emailing, etc. So why aren't you interested? What if I have a customer referral for you and I need to find out if it would be a waste of time for you? What if I have a partnership offer for you where you offer a service that I don't and I have 20 clients that immediately need what you do? What if I need your service?
I learned a lot from some new friends recently. A few top executives that you would never think you could actually meet with. I reached out to one gentleman a few months ago who immediately scheduled a meeting with me. Very casual, very non threatening. Let's get together for 15-20 minutes and see if there is anything there. You just never know. The result was fantastic. About a half dozen additional meetings with other executives and 2 referrals for friends, one of which was offered a full time executive position with one of the companies.
The title of this is "Take A Chance" because if you don't accept the initial meeting, you never know what you could be missing. It could be a great business alliance, a referral partner, a source for new clients, someone skilled to help with you company's pain points, an executive level job for a friend/colleague. You just never know and if you disconnect without even minimal exploration, you could be missing out on something amazing!
