Take a break and visit a gallery to enjoy art
There couldn't be a better advocate for visiting galleries of modern and contemporary art than Jennifer Higgie in her "Real Thing" paper, in Frieze, 13 September 2017. Even though she has an instagram profile among the most followed in the arts, she defends art "in the flesh"
"In the midst of our non-stop lives, galleries allow us to pause and take stock; they’re venues for daydreaming and debate, idiosyncrasy and invention. In our rampantly materialistic culture, looking at art is one of the few things you can do for free – and the benefits of doing so are immeasurable."
Describing art galleries as such unique spaces should encourage people to go off their usual path, pop in galleries along the way - quick and easy - and connect with art further than through a screen.
