You don’t have to break in order to take a break.
I learned this the hard way. Back in 2009, I broke my back in a snowboarding accident—a painful, terrifying, and ultimately life-changing experience. It forced me to rest, slow down, and reassess what I really wanted. Burnout is real, and it can be just as debilitating as a physical injury. But here’s the truth: self-care is not optional. It’s the foundation that allows us to keep going.
On this episode, we dive into:
My journey from breaking my back to breaking down—and the lessons I learned The warning signs of burnout and how to recognise them early Why we struggle to rest until we’re forced to Simple ways to build self-care into your daily life How to schedule rest before your body or mind demands it
