These staggering statistics come from a recent study conducted by TUI, the holiday company.
The same study also revealed that the majority of business owners take just five days off every year.

The Reality is
For many of us: we're so caught up in the demands of running a business or the demands of our job role that we often neglect the most important asset we have—ourselves.
But let us just pause for a moment here
What does it really mean when we say we're “working while on holiday” or “cancelling breaks for work”?
It means we are not prioritising ourselves
It means we’re missing out on the chance to truly recharge, to step back and gain perspective, and to nurture our own well-being.
Why It Matters
To be straight to the point taking time off isn’t just a luxury—it’s a necessity.
Continuous work without proper rest WILL lead to burnout, which can carry some pretty serious health issues.
Imagine driving a car without ever stopping for fuel.
Eventually, it will run out of gas and stop moving altogether. The same goes for us.

The Hidden Impact On Your Body
We often think of stress as just a mental burden, but it’s much more than that—it has a profound impact on our physical health as well.
Stress is not just an emotional response; it’s a biological process that can take a serious toll if left unmanaged.
When you’re under stress, your body triggers a series of responses, preparing you to either fight the stressor or flee from it—this is what we often refer to as the “fight or flight” response.
Your heart rate increases, your muscles tense up, and your body releases a flood of hormones like cortisol and adrenaline.
While these reactions can be life-saving in short bursts, when these responses are constantly activated it can lead to a host of health problems.
We’re talking about conditions like hypertension, heart disease, digestive issues, migraines, and even mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Stress, as the pioneering researcher Hans Selye discovered, is simply our body’s way of adapting to external pressures. The key isn’t to eliminate stress but to adapt to it effectively.

6 个月I haven’t had what I’d class a holiday in a couple of years: I have been away but that’s been with family so I’m not classing that as a holiday. I plan for that to change in 2025 let me tell you!
