The Tailor Shop

The Tailor Shop

There was once a young man who built a tailor shop. Through blood, sweat, and tears, he built it all himself. When he had finished, he marveled at his accomplishment with every ounce of pride he could muster in the moment. Afterwords, without a seconds thought, he immediately barreled his way into running his very own clothing business. Unfortunately, it hardly turned a profit, if any at all. Despite his frustration, stress, and lost sleep to make this shop succeed, he could never produced enough to repay the time it took him to build his glorious shop.

One day an older gentleman entered his shop slightly puzzled. "Sir," he said, "What made you think a tailor shop would work great in this community?" The young man was taken back by the question. After all, why wouldn't it? It was his idea and he spent a large amount of his resources to do it! After explaining to the older man the ins and outs of his glorious vision become reality, the old man simply replied, "Too bad your vision didn't see your reality is in a nudist community."

The younger man spent all his time building and then running the shop. His attention was so attached to his ways, he failed to see the...naked truth around him. It was tough, miserable, and humiliating to admit defeat. Piece by piece, he tore all he had become languished for down. The dread of wasted days and money haunted him as he did. With the rubble of a lost dream in ruin at his feet, he mirthlessly strolled through the wreckage of his pride. That's when he tripped over the golden flaked rock jutting scarcely from the ground....

How often can people compare themselves to the young man fighting desperately for the things he believes will bring success? How much anger, resentment, and embarrassment do people feel when they learn their way isn't going to work? People will sometimes keep fighting just to prove they are right. They want to show themselves and others that their way will be successful even if they're wrong. For some, the definition of success literally becomes to prove they're way is right. Sometimes, people admitting they are wrong and starting over is the only way to find the gold beneath their feet.

Being wrong isn't defeat, it's simply starting over with a different point of view. Learn to be wrong and remember how it feels. By being wrong, there is new growth to find.
