T.A.I. MAIL

T.A.I. MAIL

Today, there is something important happening, and for a change, it ain't marketing or AI, so while everyone in the world is distracted, maybe it's a good day to slide this 2¢ into the feed - yet another AI post....

Ask not what AI can’t do, ask what it can do.

If your email marketing (or any content you create) can be done with AI, do it with AI.

Yep.

But ask yourself a question.

Why can this be done with AI?

Is this content so me-too, meh, and formulaic, just like everyone else’s, that a machine with no creativity, love for the audience, or learning could do it just as well by copying what has gone before?

Yes?

Then this is a perfectly acceptable solution to a content strategy that aims to create more, not better.

Right?

I’m inspired to write this by a LinkedIn thread started by Jordie van Rijn ???? - a jolly nice Dutch fellow who’s an email marketing expert and someone I would recommend following, as he’s splendid at sparking LinkedIn conversations - and in this case, Jordie shared this Tweet:

Caveat: as I am not active on Twitter, I am assuming this is genuine, which in this crazy fucked up world, could be a bad assumption, and this could be AI too!

As I mentioned, Jordie is jolly good at sparking conversation and asking what his audience thinks.

And, as you can imagine, there is a range of responses in the comments, much consternation and wringing of hands as well as some serious consideration of what role AI should play in email marketing.

The point I made in the thread:

I think maybe this is an indicator of how dull email campaigns usually are - take a look in your inbox - what couldn't have been written by AI?

If we all signed up for this new bootstrapped with no cash agency - Tai Lopez AI Email R Us Inc. - would many marketing teams or, more importantly, their audiences notice the switch, especially in B2B?

That's a terrible name for an agency; I suspect he’d call it T.A.I. Mail - see what I did there?

Hence the opening to this post - if everyone was honest about how dull their emails and content were, T.A.I Mail would make a killing.

If your email marketing (or any content you create) can be done with AI, do it with AI.

Tuesday More Cents

As this is a LinkedIn newsletter and not supposed to be a soap box for a weekly rant, I’d like to share some other stuff on the same topic. However, I am living dangerously, as I am breaking the rules and including links off LinkedIn (GASP!) so the algorithm may not let you see this....

Tuesday 2 Listen

I posted about this today. If you missed it, I encourage you to give this a listen.

Alison Jones is a wonderful publisher and writing coach, and her podcast is a joy - and if you are not familiar with it - this episode, the best bits from recent shows is a great place to start, and there are some wonderful quotes about AI and writing that are on point for the topic this week.

ICYMI

Also, on the topic of AI and writing - ICYMI - a couple of weeks ago, I shared a thought about how using AI cheats you out of the value of the writer's journey.

BEAT IT?

And if you would like to sign up for a real newsletter and shimmy over from this rented land to having me (and not AI) in your email inbox - I have a weekly newsletter on Beehiiv as part of Rockstar CMO called The Beat.

Seemed a shame not to pimp an email newsletter when that's the topic this week, and why should LinkedIn have all the fun*?

*I mean "data" ;-)

A final thought on the AI topic: Yesterday, I used generative AI as a shortcut to summarize something, which saved me a ton of time. I then spent hours fiddling with an AI image tool, which was not so productive.

This is the state of AI right now, for every hour saved, we are probably spending another two experimenting and fiddling about with it....

Thanks for reading this far :-)
