To @Tag or To #Hashtag

Tags allow social media users to engage a specific person, business or any entity with a social profile when they mention them in a post or comment. Tagging will notify the recipient and hyperlinks to the tagged profile. 

When I do LinkedIn workshops, I highly recommend for users to Tag, Tag and more Tags. Tag users that are active on LinkedIn and are relevant to what you are posting. You can also tag users when you are commenting on someone’s post. Users that have thousands of followers will most likely not see your post(s) unless you tag them. Tagging users is like tapping them on the shoulder.

For example: to tag me use @Rey Domingo and my name will pop up. 

Hashtags

A hashtag is a label for content. It helps others who are interested in a certain topic, quickly find content on that same topic.

A hashtag looks something like this: #LinkedInMilCity or #AirForce

Hashtags are used mostly on social media sites.
