TADREEB Teams in action
Bauer is among the first German companies that have teamed up with UAE universities to offer Emirati graduates and students a unique internship experience in German companies.
?Two students from Abu Dhabi, Mohamed Almehairbi and Hasan Alzarooni take part in construction material research at Bauer Spezialtiefbau in Germany.?
The Tadreeb organization, as part of its leadership program, made it possible for Bauer to get in touch with highly qualified students from the UAE.
This research project aims to develop an optimazation method of silicafume content on the viscosity of tremie concretes for special foundation members such as D-Walls or Bored piles. Silicafume is mainly used to increase the resistance of concrete to chloride penetration, thereby preventing corrosion. However, above certain dosage rates of silicafume in concrete, the viscosity becomes so high that the required proper flow of concrete in the trench or borehole cannot be ensured in every case. This proper flow of concrete is decisive for intact structural members concerning the projected lifetime.
Within this scope, Mohamed Almehairbi and Hasan Alzarooni are exclusively mentored by Dr. Hursit Ibuk, who is the Team Leader of Construction Materials at Bauer. Planning and executing a testing program on different concrete compositions with different silicafume products and dosages belong to the daily work including the measurement of concretes’ viscosity at Bauer’s lab in Schrobenhausen. Based on the results obtained, a model will be developed to quickly determine the optimal dosage of silica fume in concrete for lower viscosity.
