Tactics: Step by Step

It’s a process: define the objectives, create a strategy, and design your tactics. Then execute them. Once you have a strategy in place, you can fine tune your methods for doing the things you have outlined.
What’s the best use of your time?? That’s the first thing to consider, as time is your most defined resource, and it is limited by factors outside of your control.? There is only so much of it, and you need to be sure you are making the best possible use of this precious thing, your time, which is, to put it simply, your life.
The best use of your time is for you to do what you do best and find ways to work with others to do the rest. What is part of your process that absolutely must be done by you?? If you look carefully, you see that the answer is that yes, there are certain things that only you can do. But a lot of things can be done by others.?
I work with people who are way too busy running their companies and using their own tactics to do what I do, and it’s a huge pleasure when we can put together a teamwork process.? I love it when I can do what I do best and let others do the rest.? Knowing that my skill set is one that is valuable makes me want to focus on using it in the best way, with people who understand that they don’t need to write their stuff!? They only need to communicate with me about what they want, and we can do it together.

An example is a large company that already has a marketing team. They can do the heavy tech lifting, too, since they can build websites and landing pages, and they do it all the time. What makes this awesome is that I can talk to the marketing team and find out exactly how to put the tactics we have identified into play. Each part of the team is contributing to the tactics being successful. We have a process, and I do what I do best, not everything else.?
Sometimes, I’m doing things at a smaller scale, like setting up my own content, the stuff you are doing right now.? Here’s how I do it:? I break down what I want my readers to get from me into categories, or pillars.? Then, I think up the topics I want to present.? After that, the titles for posts appear. This doesn’t all happen at once, by the way. I give myself time and set aside a time budget for getting into the needed flow state. After I have all the titles ready, I get into the groove and write until the flow state stops being a groove and starts to feel different.? Then I know it’s time to move to a different tactic, of doing detail work, setting things up to go out, looking at strategies, calling people, and the like.?
Knowing when the tactics fit into your energy state makes you more effective.? One thing at a time, and after a while, you have built something great.
What do you want to build?
