Several tech companies around the world are executing mass layoffs amid what is seen as fears of global recession and slowdown. The impact of layoffs has been felt in India as well. Several Indian tech companies have recently cut down on their workforce. Multinational companies also carried out their laying off drive in the country.?
Layoffs are a painful but expected fact of life in a market economy exposed to competition and trade. Layoffs can be damaging psychologically as well as financially to the affected workers as well as their families, communities, colleagues, and other businesses.
WELLBEING:
Losing a job can be a traumatic experience, both financially and emotionally. It's normal to feel a range of emotions such as shock, anger, sadness, and anxiety. Some people may even experience symptoms of depression.
Below are a few things one can do to help cope with the trauma of a lay-off:
1.????Take care of your mental and physical health. Eating well, getting regular exercise, and getting enough sleep can help reduce stress and anxiety.
2.????Reach out to friends and family for support. Talking about your feelings can help you process the experience and feel less alone.
3.????Seek professional help if needed. A therapist or counselor can help you work through the emotional aspects of a layoff.
4.????Practice self-care. Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, such as reading, listening to music, or spending time in nature.
5.????Stay positive and maintain a growth mindset. Instead of focusing on what has happened, focus on what you can do to move forward.
6.????Consider the lay-off as an opportunity to make a change, explore new career paths, or perhaps start your own business.

JOB HUNT:
It's important to take a strategic approach to your job hunt. Here are a few steps one can take:
1.????Assess your skills and experience. Make a list of your strengths, accomplishments, and the types of roles you're interested in.
2.????Update your resume and LinkedIn profile. Tailor them to the types of roles you're applying for and highlight any relevant skills or experiences.
3.????Network. Reach out to your professional contacts and let them know you're looking for a new opportunity. Attend industry events and job fairs to meet potential employers.
4.????Apply for jobs. Use online job search engines and company career pages to find opportunities that match your skills and experience.
5.????Be prepared for interviews. Research the company and the role beforehand, and practice answering common interview questions.
6.????Be patient and persistent. Job hunting can take time, so don't get discouraged if you don't find the perfect opportunity right away.
7.????Consider upskilling or re-skilling to make your profile more attractive to potential employers.
Feeling anxious and depressed, having trouble sleeping, and not being able to enjoy activities that you are used to enjoying?are all normal feelings that you may experience after a layoff but always remember that the decision has nothing to do with your potential or work ethic.
