In this episode of #TabletTuesday I'm really excited to bring you my first ever podcast episode!! I speak openly with Elan Sudberg , CEO of Alkemist Labs and Chair of the American Herbal Products Association's Psychedelic Plants and Fungi Committee to discuss: Industry Trends, Recent Acquisitions and FDA Regulations.

Elan has played a pivotal role in the creation and role out of the AHPA's committee. The committee was chartered in 2022 to address issues related to the safe use and responsible commerce of lawfully marketed products derived from psychedelic plants and fungi. Elan Sudberg was appointed as the committee's first chair. Already CEO of a committed testing laboratory specialising in plant authentication, botanical ingredient identification and quantitative analytical services to the food and beverage, nutraceutical and cosmeceutical industries, he was a perfect fit. His passion for supporting the roll-out of produce with powerful natural benefits to the masses really comes across in this chat, and in the work he is doing across both roles.

Listening to Elan talk about the transformative benefits of microdosing was truly captivating. According to him, this subtle practice has remarkably diminished his anxiety, empowered him to confidently address large audiences of 500 or more, and even enhanced his reading abilities.

He made an interesting comparison between our daily coffee routine and what he called the "rat race", where we dutifully queue up every morning. He passionately argues that microdosing, despite its potentially superior health advantages over coffee, often falls short in recognition due to its marketing strategies.

I find the shift in the industry outlook really intriguing. While Elan also points out the work that still needs to be done by the FDA in terms of testing, a simple Google search reflects how the perspective has evolved from a fear of psychedelics to actively researching top-rated products.
