"At the Table": Conversations on Winning in Today's World of Work
When it comes to the world of work, one thing is certain – it's always evolving. And winning starts with staying ahead of the curve.
Welcome to At the Table, my new video series for meaningful conversations with thought leaders in APAC as we dive into the latest trends, share our experiences, and elevate our collective knowledge.
In our very first episode I had the privilege of sitting down with three remarkable minds driving change in the gender space: Minister Josephine Teo , Georgette Tan , Roshni Cheung . We delved into the challenges women face in their careers, as well as actionable steps we can take to promote positive change for ourselves and each other.
I often wonder how long change will take to see a shift in female representation in leadership. Although this might take more time, every stride forward inches us closer. With allies leaning in and workplaces becoming more intentional, a more equitable work environment is within reach. Remember, we all have a role to play (watch Barbie!).
The engaging conversation with these incredible women left me standing taller and even more fired up to take action. With that, I'm excited to share six key takeaways from our discussion:
1. Embrace the Change
The workplace nowadays is more welcoming and supportive of women, offering opportunities to grow and lead. Be daring and explore newer career paths, embracing the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.
2. Confidence matters
In the pursuit of gender equity, we must tackle the confidence issue among women. While competence is not the problem, many hesitate to take on diverse roles due to a lack of self-assurance. Empowering women to build confidence and assert themselves is vital for fostering a diverse and? inclusive work environment.?

3. Equitability instead of equality
Challenges such as time constraints, caregiving responsibilities, and stereotypical notions continue to impact women's progress. As leaders, we should advocate for policies that enable work-life balance and remove obstacles holding back women's success.
4. Allyship starts from home
Building a supportive ecosystem begins within our families too. When we engage our fathers, brothers, husbands, and male figures, and share the challenges women face, they can become powerful advocates for gender equality in every sphere of life.
5. Don’t be afraid to celebrate your achievements
We should all feel empowered to celebrate our achievements and speak proudly about our successes. By doing so, we become role models for future generations and inspire confidence in other women.?
6. Keep the conversation going, because there’s more to do
We must all continue the conversation and take actionable steps towards achieving gender equity. Let's keep engaging in meaningful dialogue, collaborating to drive change and create a future of work where equality thrives.
Share your thoughts in the comments below as we keep this important discussion going. We're just getting started, and together, we can make a real impact in achieving a fair and inclusive world of work.?
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I can't wait to have you back at the table next month for another episode!

1 年Yes of course, for women's empowerment, equality and equity ,the age of conferences, workshops, seminars and crafting theories, principles, plans of action, strategies for decorative words beyond real practices and results laid more challenges for the desired result.Investments allocated globally, nationally and locally for words rather than actions have resulted never ending gap until and unless investments made in grassroot level. The leveling up of few handful elite women can't be termed as empowerment. The truest empowerment is enabling women of grassroot level is to evoke self- realisation that they own their distinct capabilities to rise above the diverse barriers allying with male counterparts for their personal and professional growth and of course for the better and world of just.
