SYSTRA's digest #28: November 2024
On 27 November 2024, the Riyadh metro was officially inaugurated by King Salmane ben Abdulaziz Al Saud,?Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The gradual entry into service of the six lines of this new automatic metro network by January 2025 is the culmination of over a decade of work by SYSTRA's teams on this project.
As part of the Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC) integrated consortium, SYSTRA Arabia worked alongside Parsons Corporation and Egis to design and supervise the construction of the Blue, Red and Orange metro lines, the first of which will welcome passengers on 1 December.
"This is a historic day for Riyadh, which is inaugurating its first automatic metro system, and for SYSTRA, whose teams have been working on this project since August 2013. This is a major transformation for the capital of Saudi Arabia, which is acquiring one of the most modern metro networks in the world. Through this project, we are very proud to be contributing to the ambitious Vision 2030 programme and to be helping the Kingdom move towards more sustainable mobility.” Jean Charles Vollery, CEO SYSTRA
