Systems Engineering Specialisation
SE-Training GmbH
Swiss-quality, cross-functional engineering Training & Development, optimised for the unique needs of Europe.
Systems engineers can be found in all industries, both in junior and senior positions. Many individuals choose to specialise in a certain field based on their interest, career development or earning potential.

Transport:
A transport system is made up of the infrastructure, technology, vehicles and users, and these need to be monitored and controlled. The interaction of the users with the transport system can be extremely complicated and nuanced in terms of security concerns, economics, changes in demand and perceived value. Transport systems engineers study, observe and influence the quality of environment, travel behaviours and supporting systems while aiming to continuously improve quality in a number of areas such as reliability, environmental impact and safety features.
Software:
A software systems engineer designs, develops and maintains essential software components. They take into account budgetary constraints, user requirements and legal implications to analyse, test and maintain software systems while striving to improve quality and resolve internal and external customer issues. They work with all components of a network – hardware and software.

Logistics:
Logistics systems engineers have to be tech savvy to drive logistics systems. They monitor and manage software and hardware systems that cover inventory, storage, shipment tracking and supply chain communication. A logistics systems engineer has to consider trade-offs in budget, demand fluctuation, repairs, training, storage and transportation options to optimise systems across the lifecycle of the item.
?
Product development:
Product development encompasses all the phases from research through to marketing. The systems engineer has to link product design to development requirements, which in turn influence marketing decisions. Part of the duties include researching customer demand and industry trends, developing prototypes to assess available materials and evaluating production options and costs. In this position innovation and engineering combine at the highest level.

Biosystems:
Biosystems engineers develop systems that work with living organisms – plants and animals. Their engineering input is used to produce items like foods and pharmaceuticals. It can also focus on agriculture or ecosystems as opposed to food and drug sciences. Further specialisation can focus on land and water resource engineering, biomedical engineering, natural resource engineering or bioprocess engineering, amongst others.
