Systems crash hits airports worldwide
Travellers are facing queues as mystery systems crash hits check-in desks at five international hubs.
A software glitch is behind a systems crash which has hit several airports worldwide.
Reports came in this morning from London Gatwick and Heathrow, Charles de Gaulle in Paris, Reagan Airport in Washington DC, Changi in Singapore, Johannesburg , Melbourne and Zurich according to the Telegraph.
A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport said: “The problems was caused by the systems the airlines use (Altéa). There was a blip for 10 to 15 minutes and it’s back up and running with now disruption to Gatwick services.”
At Heathrow, the glitch is affecting a ‘small’ number of airlines at Terminals 2, 3 and 4. A spokesperson said: “A small number of airlines are currently experiencing intermittent issues with their check-in systems at airports around the world – including at Heathrow. Passengers will still be able to check-in for their flight, although the process may take slightly longer than usual. We are working closely with our airlines to help resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
