Systemic Leadership Summit The 5th Edition

It's Sunday January 10 and I'm staring out of the window. After the first week in 2021 I'm wondering what will happen with all of us. There is such a big task resting on our shoulders. Dealing with disruption in healthcare, education, politics, economy, environment. So many big dynamics like exclusion, division and disunity have come to the surface in 2020, it's mind-boggling.

How can systems thinking and systemic approaches help us deal with these dynamics in our organizations, communities and societies? What can we do at an individual level? How can we regenerate humanity or human unity in these times of disruption?

A week from now we'll be making attempts to answer these questions, and look at what we can do from a systemic perspective through conversations with speakers at the Systemic Leadership Summit. How things started with the SLS

Memories of the first summit come up. The idea of it emerged in 2016. It was based on my wish to serve more clients than one or two at a time, and on a video that I created in 2015, when I wanted to co-create a paradigm shift in the way we define, shape and experience leadership. Leadership that is more holistic, inclusive and sustainable. Some powerful methods were to be found in systems thinking and systemic approaches. So for me, systemic leadership became the vehicle towards the creation of healthier teams and organizations.

A few months after creating the short video with the essence of this mission, I decided to create an online summit. And I knew I needed a network of big people to help create and launch it. I remember being terrified of approaching thought leaders and experts, wise individuals whom I had learned a lot from. Some were my teachers in training sessions and conferences, but most I didn't know personally at all. I had read their books, worked with their methods, listened to their talks, watched their videos. Now it was time to connect with them through my vision. Picking up the phone seemed like an impossible task, and it took me all my energy to get over my fear and send them an email. I could only do it after creating another video, in which I shared my vision and invited them personally to join my event as a speaker.

To my surprise and shock, 9 out of 10 speakers I approached said YES. And so the creation of the first Systemic Leadership Summit started. Doing interviews with the most amazing people, editing the recordings, promoting the online event for the first time, having over a thousand people attend, the massive learning participants got from it...Such an adventure it was.

The Systemic Leadership Summit has come a long way since then. And it is and always has been so much bigger than me. It serves a mission and a purpose that are bigger than me. To date over 4500 people from over 48 countries joined the first four summits. I will be running the online summit in its current format at least one more time. Then I will be opening the space for different formats, so the event can be brought to more people by more people.

The 5th edition

The summit's fifth birthday is coming up and I wholeheartedly invite you to join! We're celebrating with sessions from over 20 speakers from January 17-24, 2021. With this edition we will be crossing the 100 mark in terms of sessions from all summits to date. And what's new is that all interviews were recorded this month AND we will have live interviews, with an opportunity for participants to ask questions right at the end of the sessions.

The event is completely online and if you watch the sessions as they are broadcast it is also completely free. If you have no opportunity to watch the summit sessions live, we've got your back: you will be able to upgrade to a Premium Ticket and watch all the replays, download all MP3s and Transcripts and more. Later this year we'll even be able to add subtitles to the replays for the first time.
