#Lacquette is being used to defend the #Blackhawks logo, this is not progress, this is not an achievement, this is the?National Hockey League (NHL)?abusing an Indigenous hero to preserve their racism. It is too bad that so many believe the lie of the?#Blackhawks?honoring Indigenous people.
The?#Blackhawks?were named for the 86th division, the 86th division was named for the pioneers in the prowess in the battles in the Indians. Not for the Indigenous man.
The logo is just the?#Indigenous?version of?#UncleBen. The distorted image of Chief Iron Tail that was the?#BuffaloNickel?on a shirt. The mascots preserve a culture of Indigenous racism that results in?#MMIW. Never celebrate any?#Indigenous?person accepting their lesser place in society.
Of those 200 teams that license the?#Blackhawks?logo, most encourage racism towards Indigenous. It is shocking that an educated Indigenous person would see the glorification of white supremacy and acceptance of racism as an achievement for Indigenous people; to sellout like @APTN who valued a?#Cree?National Hockey League (NHL)?over an equal place in society.
Mascots perpetuate a culture of Indigenous racism in Canada, where non-Indigenous people learn to treat Indigenous people with less respect than everyone else. Or do you?#TomahawkChop?with the?Kansas City Chiefs?too?
The goal is not to cope or accept racism. The goal is equal participation in a society where racism is not a constant feature of your life. To celebrate #FredSasakamoose and not glorify his ability to endure racism to succeed. But to ensure future Indigenous, hockey players or not, do not have to endure racism to exist in Canada.
