Synthetic Paper and its Edge over Conventional Paper
If we tend to take a look at the things around us in our room, we are likely to find a lot of items which are made of paper. There may be books, a few magazines, some printer paper, and perhaps a poster on the wall. According to the Technical Association of the Pulp & Paper Industry, the world consumes about 300 million tons of paper each year. The majority of this usage comes from virgin pulp, which makes this one of the major cause of cutting down trees.
Unfortunately, the papermaking process is not a clean one either. According to The Worldwatch Institute, pulp and paper mills are among the worst polluters to air, water and land of any industry across the world. Each year millions of pounds of highly toxic chemicals such as toluene, methanol, chlorine dioxide, hydrochloric acid and formaldehyde are released into the air and water from papermaking plants around the world; leave alone the environmental impact of cutting down millions of trees to make paper.
So what is the solution to this ever growing consumption of paper for several applications around the world? Synthetic Paper, which is manufactured employing synthetic resin derived from petroleum as the main material, has been seen replacing pulp based paper in applications requiring repeated usage and longevity. It has properties analogous to a plastic film and its look is close to that of paper produced from wood pulp.
The best part about using Synthetic Paper as a replacement of conventional paper is the environmental benefit it holds. It is completely recyclable, and does not pollute the air and water bodies during its production.
Cosmo Films is one of the largest manufacturers of film based Synthetic Paper based out of India and one of the largest exporter of the product as well. Cosmo Synthetic Paper (CSP) looks and feels like the traditional paper we use, but with plenty of added benefits. You can print on it, fold it, cut it and even write on it, but unlike ordinary paper, CSP is known for its durability and longevity. Apart from this, CSP does not soak in liquid or crumble under humid conditions, in fact you can wipe of the liquid if it pours on the surface. It is chemical resistant and can be used in environments where regular paper would not survive.
CSP is made from a recyclable plastic based film which resembles paper in appearance, and is printable with most available printing technologies including Wet & UV (Offset and Flexographic) printing, Letterpress, Screen Printing, Thermal Transfer, Rotogravure and most digital toner technologies.
Cosmo Synthetic Paper can be used in applications of Commercial Printing, Tags & Labels, Retail & Packaging, Identification & Credentials and Outdoors. The only limit to the possible applications of CSP is your imagination. It is made to cater to all business specific applications and printing technology requirements.
