My Talk at PTS, EBU Geneva: Synthetic Media & Media Convergence

Two weeks ago I was invited to hold a keynote at the "Production Technology Seminar" (PTS) of the European Broadcast Union (EBU). The EBU is an alliance of public service media in over 54 countries around the world:

Topics of my talk were the of the rise Synthetic Media in 2022 and how these things could influence our everyday work, including virtual YouTubers and production.

The peculiarity of the presentation probably lay in the fact that I was holding the first half of the talk as a DeepFake via Zoom. - That not a single person in the audience had realized. Here is a small preview how it looked like:

After I joined the stage for the second half of the presentation I focussed entirely on virtual content such as virtual YouTubers/ Streamers.

In my opinion this sort of content existed received far too little attention, compared to how long it has been around.

"This might not only change how we produce, but what stories we can tell and how we can interact with our audience!"

I drove home from Geneva (by train, of course) with lots of impressions about media production of the future, virtual production and volumetric video.
