Synergy of Innovation and Tradition: My Experience at ElectronicsForYou Expo, Chennai

As an electronics enthusiast and IoT professional, my journey has always been intertwined with hardware and software, making every opportunity to engage with the world of electronics truly special. Recently, I had the privilege of attending Day 1(12 Dec 2024) of the ElectronicsForYou (EFY) Expo in Chennai, a city renowned for its industrial and manufacturing prowess.

Despite the unexpected heavy rains that greeted the event, the dedication of the EFY team, especially Dilin Anand, Anusha, and their colleagues, shone through. They ensured a seamless experience for participants, creating an environment conducive to learning, networking, and collaboration.

?? Immersive Sessions on R&D and NPD

On the first day, the focus was on Research & Development (R&D) and New Product Development (NPD), particularly in the electronics and automotive sectors. The curated sessions left me inspired and informed.

Tech leaders G S Madhusudan, Siji Sunny, Viswanathan Rajalingam, and Abu Alex Mathew shared insights on embedded systems, IoT, and EV technologies. Their engaging panel discussion explored the emerging challenges and opportunities in these fields, offering a forward-looking perspective on technological innovation.

Three standout presentations that particularly resonated with me included:

• Balajee Rajaram from Logitec shared his expertise on the "Product Development Playbook for Next-Gen Tech Products in Emerging R&D Sectors." His approach resonated deeply with me, offering fresh perspectives and practical strategies for innovation.

• Parthiban from Linumiz delved into the fascinating world of Zephyr RTOS, an embedded operating system gaining traction in modern IoT applications.

• Tech expert Chandrasekar B offered strategic insights into R&D outsourcing, emphasizing effective collaboration techniques and smart risk mitigation approaches to drive innovative product development.

The interactive and insightful discussions reminded me why I am so passionate about the world of electronics—it’s a field that constantly evolves and thrives on the power of collaboration.

??♂? Discoveries from the Expo Walk

The expo floor was a bustling hub of innovation, with prominent names like Keysight Technologies, Mouser Electronics, and Keyence showcasing their latest offerings. However, some of my most exciting discoveries came from emerging players and regional innovators:

• Rhosigma, Thinksemi, Glonix Electronics, and Coimbatore-based Rapid3D stood out with their impressive products and solutions.
• The stall by Enthutech, co-founded by Rathinasamy, was buzzing with energy, drawing in curious visitors eager to learn more.

Walking through the expo, I was struck by how both established giants and smaller startups coexist to push the boundaries of technological advancement.

?? Reconnecting and Networking

One of the highlights of events like these is the chance to reconnect with old colleagues and industry friends. I met Badri and Aswin from Rently, who I first crossed paths with during the 2022 IoT show in Bangalore. Our conversations centered around the latest developments in the electronics industry, sparking fresh ideas and collaborative possibilities.

Another cherished meeting was with Joshua, an ex-colleague whose passion for PLCs and plant setups remains unmatched. Catching up with peers like these adds a personal dimension to professional gatherings, reminding me of the shared journey we all undertake in this ever-evolving field.

?? A Cultural Surprise

Beyond the walls of the expo, I stumbled upon a delightful cultural experience that added a touch of tradition to my trip. Folk dancers performing the ?????????? ?????? ?????? (dummy horse dance) showcased Tamil Nadu’s rich heritage. I took a moment to congratulate and thank them for their efforts in keeping this vibrant tradition alive. The performer was kind enough to pose for a picture with me, creating a memory I’ll cherish for a long time.

The EFY Expo was more than just an event—it was a synergy of innovation and tradition. From cutting-edge technological insights to reconnecting with industry peers and embracing cultural heritage, it was a rejuvenating experience that fueled my passion for electronics.

Such events serve as a reminder of why I love this field. They bring together the best minds, ideas, and energy, fostering an ecosystem where innovation thrives. As I walked out of the expo, I carried with me not just knowledge but also a renewed enthusiasm to contribute to the world of electronics.
