Syncing Culture and Career: The Senior Role Secret Sauce
Still sharing my observations about recruitment.
We have been interviewing for a couple of mid- to senior roles in the last month, and there are a couple of mistakes many (most) candidates make.
What really makes a candidate stand out, especially when it comes to those senior-level positions? Sure, having the right qualifications and skills is key, but it's about more than just ticking boxes. It's about fitting in with the vibe, the culture, the mojo of the company.

Picture this: you walk into an interview and get hit with the question, "What attracted you to us?" And instead of diving into what makes the company awesome, you start talking about yourself and your own career needs. Hold up, what about what the company needs? That question has "tell us you did your homework and you believe that you are a great culture fit” written all over it!
I believe that this is true for all job roles but especially in senior roles: it's not just about being good at your job; it's about being a good fit for the team and the company as a whole. Leaders shape the culture and direction of the organisation, so it's crucial that they vibe with the company's values and mission.
My advice? Before you go into that interview, do your homework! Get to know the company inside and out. Understand its culture, its goals, its challenges. And when they ask you why you're interested, show them that you're not just there for a job, but because you genuinely believe in what they're doing, and you can help them to reach their goals, if you are allowed to join their team.
