Symbolic Update #8

Welcome to this eighth edition of the Symbolic Newsletter. This week, we are excited to announce two significant platform enhancements that are live this morning.

Over the past several months, we have been working closely with customers and looking carefully at the present and future of generative AI. Many AI applications are a mixed bag, feeling forced or "bolted on", and being asked to do things which they are simply not ready to do. This can lead to impressive demos that fail to deliver real business impact. However, when AI is deeply integrated in work processes, and when it is focused on the areas where it excels, magic happens. This has led us to imagine researching, writing and editing as AI native processes, and to the launch of Symbolics' new Editor 2.0 and Symbolic Interactive Research (SIR).

Editor 2.0

Symbolic's new Editor, part of the "Write" section of the platform, allows a writer to use as much or as little AI assistance as they need. Editor 2.0 is a fully functional word processing application that seamlessly integrates research and AI assistance. It puts AI in-line and at the control of the writer, and has been designed to deliver the highest standards of quality and efficiency creating and editing content.

Editor 2.0 includes:

The incorporation of research directly into the editing workspace, allowing you to collaborate side-by-side for enhanced context and transparency. Resize your workspace to bring research to the forefront. Easily control which content is integrated into Symbolics' writing framework.

Voice and format selection integrated as a drop down right from the editor toolbar. This allows the writer to experiment with different versions of an article for different audiences, all with a single click.

A new user interface that streamlines AI assistance of the writing process. A new AI menu can provide rewriting suggestions or entire new sections of content, and is always available at the right place and time.

An advanced AI identification feature that clearly differentiates between content written by AI versus human writers in any document.

The addition of significant core word processing features, and the ability to work on a document in full screen without losing any of the context or AI support.

Symbolic Interactive Research (SIR)

?

In addition to being a writing tool, Symbolic has comprehensive research capabilities for professional communicators. The introduction of SIR provides an innovative new approach to synthesizing and analyzing content and information.

Several months ago we launched Quick Actions; these were one-click commands for performing common AI actions on documents and content, such as "Summarize" or "Extract Data". Next, we made Query available, providing a means to ask a specific, custom question about any research assets outside the scope of Quick Actions, such as "explain the performance of the Asia business". With SIR, we now take this to the next level, allowing a fully interactive discussion thread about any content. SIR allows you to naturally converse and explore concepts in a progressive discussion with Symbolics' AI, which itself provides additional context for further research and writing.

This discussion thread can be narrowed or expanded, and any part of the output can be saved to the research workspace with one click.

The saved note acts as a foundation for further exploration and writing. Integrating the analytical output from SIR throughout the research and writing stages is fast and intuitive.

The sum of all of this is that Symbolic's Research experience now allows you to use AI to organize and synthesize research however you want to; from specific one-click actions, to broad, natural language discussions. All of this work is then automatically integrated into the writing process.
