Sylvia's Children Updates

So many wonderful things have happened this year that I hardly know where to start but ... here goes!

1. For the third year in a row we made the list of Great Non-Profits! Thanks to all of you who wrote such beautiful letters and testimonials that contributed to our getting this award! If you would like to share with others your support and belief in Sylvia's Children, we wholeheartedly encourage you to do so here.
2. In June of this past year the school participated in a reading competition along with 100 other schools and they CAME IN SECOND PLACE!!!!
3. Lastly the school received a certificate of recognition for the BEST TEACHERS and they are an example for other schools to follow (there are 6,000 schools in Uganda).

We also continue to add more chickens which allows the school to support itself which leaves us free to provide the funds to educate the orphans (we have 1,002 children in the primary school of which 25% are orphans), we have 100 orphans in high school, and 75 orphans in college. And the really GOOD NEWS? we have 49 orphans who have graduated from college and/or technical school ... teachers, nurses, plumbers, electricians, mechanics, tailors, beauty operators, etc. ... people who can now support themselves!

Hard to believe but it's time to start planning the June and November trips to Uganda for 2020. The dates are June 10-23 and for November 11-24. The trip is a great combination of working and playing with children and going on safari and having the experience of a lifetime.
