Sylvia Plath has been considered as the one of the most renowned and influential poets of 20th century. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 27, 1932, to Otto and Aurelia Plath. Her father knows very well about the study of animals and plants. He was a professor of Biology at Boston University. The father of Plath was died when she was only eight years old. Due to suffering many hardship and tough times she became so aggressive.?

??????????She studied at Smith College and Newnham college at university of Cambridge. This was all before receiving acclaim as poet and writer. The reason behind the popularity of Sylvia Plath was novel and her short stories. We can say that she was a poet by birth, therefore she started writing early in her life and had her first poem published at the age of eight. Plath successfully completed her studies and went to England, where she met and married Ted Hughes.?

???????Advancing the genre of confessional poetry is also the main cause of popularity for Plath. She is well known for his two of her published collections, The colossus and the poem and Ariel, and the Bell Jar, a semi autobiographical novel published shortly before her death.

??????Some have proclaimed that Plath had not intended to kill herself. The reason behind her suicide is due to the affair of her husband. She fell into the depression and committed suicide by putting her head into the oven. She died at 11 February, 1963
