SXSW Sydney 2024: A Hub of Innovation, Creativity, and Connection
As an official SXSW Digital Partner for 2024, WongDoody had a front-row seat to all the action at this year’s event. The event was an exhilarating blend of creativity, innovation, and connection. From the moment we stepped into the bustling venues, I knew I was in for an unforgettable experience. The event brought together a diverse mix of tech, music, screen, and gaming enthusiasts, creating a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and discovery.
Throughout the event, we attended numerous insightful talks from industry leaders on topics such as climate change, perceptive AI, design, and creativity. The in-app pop-ups of Intuit Mailchimp ’s “Email is Dead” campaign added a ‘unique touch’ while reviewing the schedule. It was great to catch up with some of the team, see old friends and colleagues, and enjoy one-on-one conversations about what we’d seen and experienced.
The Tech & Innovation Track was particularly impressive, with technology stealing the focus. Highlights included seeing our name up in lights as WongDoody Official Partners of SXSW, discussions on Australia’s first astronaut, living on the moon, flying cars in the expo, integrated data, ethical AI, privacy, drinking milk, and harnessing the power of hydrogen. The American tailgate party was a fun and unexpected addition to the mix.
In total, we’d attended 34x events, made 17x calls, said hello and networked at 8 meetups, chatted with the team over 14 Teams meetings, met with 10 clients, consumed 3 packets of Tim Tams, enjoyed 8 cocktails, generated over 60 leads and walked more than 65km. The sheer volume of activities and interactions made for an incredibly dynamic experience.
Navigating the plethora of events was a challenge, but it was worth it. I listened to discussions on brand, balls ?? and business with Nick Kyrgios, global conversations on ethics, generational trend data, and how fashion, like music, serves as a conduit for emotion.
Meeting insightful and interesting people who are keen to see the winners and losers of AI in the coming years was a highlight. We talked about the stock market, health data and tech, the US election, creation and conversational design, the circular economy and how AI will evolve from written to a voice user interface over the next 12 months. Talked to Zeekr Technology Europe (from 吉利控股集团 , who also manufacture 沃尔沃汽车 ) on design and the future of EVs. And yes, there was a tipple and tune at Rolling Stone House in between.
