SXSW Panel in Austin, Texas, and other updates
To kickstart this month's newsletter, we are excited to share that our Head of Production Deborah Doherty will be speaking in Austin, Texas, on behalf of Windmill Lane at the SXSW Panel - Ireland Unveiled: Shaping the World Through Storytelling.
She will be talking alongside the wonderful Steven Davenport from Fís éireann/Screen Ireland , Katie Holly from Keeper Pictures and Emma Foley from Pale Rebel Productions.
A big thank you to Enterprise Ireland for organising and hosting this exciting event on March 12th.

Royal Television Society Award Nominees
This month, we're absolutely delighted to share the news that three exceptional projects we had the opportunity to be part of have received nominations for the Royal Television Society Republic of Ireland/ Gradaim 2024 awards, spanning across three distinct categories.
RTS state that 'This year’s entries showcased?the pinnacle of talent and creativity in the Irish television industry, with a total of over 130 entries being considered.'

Grimsburg
Grimsburg is finally here and we hope you are enjoying it!
We're thrilled to have collaborated with Bento Box Entertainment LLC on this great series, which now proudly graces Fox Corporation 's Animation Domination lineup on Sunday evenings.
Although the pilot episode debuted as a special preview in January, the series officially launched on Sunday, February 18th, airing at 9:30pm ET on Fox.
We sat down with Ed Costello , our Sound Supervisor, and Robbie O'Farrell , our Online Editor, to interview them about their experiences throughout the season.

Fionán Higgins at IADT
Our Head of Audio for Film and TV, Fionan Higgins MPSE , had the chance to host a Dialogue Editing masterclass at Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology in February.
Fionán had this to say about the experience:
"It was wonderful to have the opportunity to share some of my sound post production knowledge with the first year students of the Creative Music production course in IADT on their STC campus.”

We are thrilled to see that King Frankie has been picked up by Wildcard Distribution and will be released in Irish and UK cinemas later this year.
The feature debut of writer/director Dermot Malone starring Peter Coonan (Love/Hate, Bad Sisters), King Frankie had it's world premiere on Tuesday 24th February at the Light House Cinema.

Brendan Gleeson's Farewell to Hughes's
In a heartfelt homage to Dublin's musical legacy, "Brendan Gleeson's Farewell to Hughes's", produced by ITMA - Irish Traditional Music Arch and Key Note, captures the essence of a beloved pub's final days.
Filmed over five days in January 2022, the film celebrates the pub's profound impact on traditional music in Dublin.
After its Dublin International Film Festival premiere sold out in 24 hours, it will be screening at the Light House cinema from Tuesday 5th March.

Big Life Fix Season 2
RTE 's Big Life Fix returns for a second season, presenting new challenges to a team of leading designers, engineers, and technology experts.
Together, they aim to create life-changing inventions using cutting-edge science and technology.
In the first episode, airing on Wednesday February 28th, they worked to help Mary Ita O'Connor, diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, continue competitive running. They also sought to assist ten-year-old Dáire Gorman, born with Crommelin Syndrome, in overcoming developmental challenges.
It was a pleasure to work with Kite Entertainment and Piranha Bar on this one.

Baldur's Gate 3 nominated for 5 Gayming awards
Larian Studios took to X to share the exciting news that Baldur's Gate 3 has earned nominations in five categories for Gayming Magazine's Gayming Awards 2024. The awards are dedicated to honouring LGBTQ+ representation in gaming and geek culture.
Among the nominations are Game of the Year and the Authentic Representation Award, alongside a nod for the Gayming Magazine Reader's Award. Additionally, Larian Studios is in the running for the Industry Diversity Award. The game also boasts two nominations for the Best LGBTQ Character Award.
We are very proud of our amazing sound team here at Windmill Lane who worked alongside Larian Studios to help create the intricate soundscape for the game.
The Tourist Season 2 Hitting Netflix
The highly anticipated second season of The Tourist will be available on Netflix USA from February 29th.
The show aired throughout January on BBC One in the UK and is available on the BBC iPlayer. We absolutely loved being a part of this show, having worked on VFX and ADR across the series.
Filmed in Dublin and Wicklow, and starring Jamie Dornan and Danielle MacDonald, we are excited that viewers in the USA will have access to this brilliant series.
