Swyftx Stories: Ryo’s Workiversary

To celebrate Software Engineer 能勢良太郎 's one year anniversary at Swyftx, we sat down with him to chat about his journey at Swyftx over the last 12 months.

What’s your role at Swyftx, and how has it changed over the past 12 months??

I'm a backend software engineer for Swyftx. ?

Most of my experience before joining Swyftx was a combination of front end and back end; working on visual and functional components. But I think having come to Swyftx, given that there were a lot more employees, it made sense for us to specialise in and focus on individual parts of the platform. There's been a lot of opportunities in place at Swyftx?to learn and develop my career, so I've been taking advantage of that. Lately I've been moving more towards management and infrastructure. Technically my job role hasn't changed since I joined, but my responsibilities have kind of varied since I joined.?

From day one to now, what are some of the highlights that you've had during your time at Swyftx??

I'd say the learning has been kind of awesome. I think at Swyftx, one of the most interesting things was kind of this big transition towards scalability. Previously, I've never been part of this process before. I've only worked in places where this transition had already happened. So being a part of that was really interesting and I was really glad that I could bring the experiences that I had from my previous roles into Swyftx to get that going.??

I think Swyftx also has a lot of fun activities outside of, I guess you could say, the job description. So that's been really good too. ?

What do you love most about working at Swyftx??

A couple of things. Firstly the push towards innovation and creativity. Within the engineering teams, we’re always encouraged to be innovative and take creative approaches with our product. Over the past few months we've moved more towards a pragmatic approach to delivering products, which has been really good in its own way because it means that we're forced to tackle challenges in different ways and there has been so many learning experiences from that. Swyftx provides so many opportunities to learn new skills and they let you choose what you want to do, which is really good.??

What's one piece of advice that you would give somebody who's trying to make it in the tech sector as a software engineer??

My journey into tech has been very normal in the sense that I went from high school to university to an internship, then onto a job. With that said, one of the biggest things I have learnt is to be open to new opportunities. I came across Swyftx by chance. I wasn't expecting to get into crypto when I first joined Swyftx. I was actually introduced by a former employee who I was really good friends with and then from there, I learned a lot about crypto and Swyftx. There's a lot about crypto I still don't understand, especially when it comes to trading the market, but every day I try and increase my knowledge. So yeah, that’s probably my one piece of advice; be open to learning new things and new opportunities that you haven’t considered before.??
