SWQ / SEQ Branch Conference 2022
The IPWEAQ joint SWQ / SEQ Branch conference is being held in Toowoomba at the end of this month. We have a full program with papers being presented on a broad range of topics relevant to the SEQ corner through to the far flung reaches of the south west. And after the challenges we have had dealing with yet more flooding in our part of the world this last week, I’m sure a lot of people will be looking forward to a change of scenery, even if it is for a day or two.
IPWEAQ Branch conferences are held in a relaxed environment where delegates have the opportunity to hear from a broad range of people about their local achievements, successes, failures and learnings, delivering public works engineering services to our communities. We get to hear from and talk to industry about technology developments, products and services on offer. This year we will also get to hear how a road is defined under various Acts and what the legal implications are for us when building and maintaining roads under those definitions.
I am yet to attend a conference where I did not learn something. This year’s joint conference will be no different and I would like to encourage you to register for the event (details below). A personal highlight of IPWEAQ branch conferences is hearing from the next generation of leaders about their challenges and learnings. These are the people that will carry public works engineering into the future, and I find it encouraging to see how well they are supported by the respective organisations.
