Gucci is an Italian luxury fashion house based in Florence, Italy. Its product lines include handbags, ready-to-wear, footwear, accessories, makeup, fragrances, and home decoration.

Gucci was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci in Florence, Tuscany. Under the direction of Aldo Gucci (son of Guccio), Gucci became a worldwide-known brand, an icon of the Italian Dolce Vita.

Currently, Gucci is owned by the French luxury group Kering. In addition to Gucci, Kering and its proprietor Francois Pinault also own Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, and Alexander McQueen.

I chose #Gucci because it's one of my favorite well-known brands, so in this article, I will perform a SWOT analysis on Gucci.


  • SWOT analysis:

SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis is a framework used to evaluate a company's competitive position and to develop strategic planning. #SWOT analysis assesses internal and external factors, as well as current and future potential.

  • Strength points:

  1. High-quality products, and because of that, they have earned the trust of their customers around the world.
  2. Gucci is one of the world's leading luxury brands, so they have a strong presence in the international market.
  3. One of the oldest Italian fashion brands in operation today.

  • Weak point:?

  1. Racism in advertisements, whether it was sexual or racist.

This happened when Gucci sold a black-face sweatshirt. They apologized for it that time and stopped selling this product.

  • opportunity point:

  1. Due to technical developments, it has become easier to reach all global brands and compare them to its competitors, and there are around 4.48 billion users for social media platforms in July 2021 around the world, most of them are 13 + which helps Gucci because it is effective on social media platforms.

  • Thread point:

  1. Competition, there are at least ten competitors from well-known brands around the world that are considered direct competitors to Gucci, such as:

  • Chanel
  • Dolce & Gabbana
  • Burberry
  • Versace and many other well-known brands.
