Swollen legs? It’ll be your drains…

A patient of mine, 61 years old, arrived at my surgery complaining about swollen legs.

It had all started 2 weeks before.?

I started my investigation.

He’d had no accidents, no trauma, and there was?no cardiovascular disease in his family as far has he was aware. He'd had a bi-lateral hip replacement?9 years ago which had gone well, and he’d had no problems connected with it to date.?

This was clearly going to be a two-pipe problem – not an open-and-shut case. But you know me: I like a good mystery.

So, on to the next step: a general examination.?

I found that his sacrum was restricted.

The pelvic region is a critical area for the body, and contains organs rich in blood supply. Think about it: a lot of what goes on in this area is crucial to the regeneration of the species. (If you’re a gene, you’ve only got one thing on your mind: making copies of yourself…)

There are lymph?nodes in the groin and the back of the knee, part of the body’s drainage system, so we don’t build up toxins. A restricted sacrum?reduces your body's ability to drain itself of nasty, harmful chemicals.

People, I mobilised my patient’s sacrum. Don’t worry: he felt no pain.

Next day, he made a special call to tell me his legs were back to normal, with hardly any puffiness at all.
