“Mistakes should be examined, learned from, and discarded; not dwelled upon and stored.” Tim Fargo
The 'verbal to visual' YouTube channel is great if you're a visual learner or if you need to be super time efficient and want to get a broad overview of an idea in about 10 minutes - this video is based on the Sheila Heen book, 'Thanks for the Feedback'. I would highly recommend reading the book itself but if you don't have time or you're reading list is already as long as your arm - pick up some snippets in the illustrated video.
"The art of being able to take feedback without either trashing the relationship with the person delivering it or coming away emotionally destroyed because my mindset was too self-righteous to take any advice... took me about 15 years to master. I look back at that time and I now realise that I could have kept all my relationships intact and made double the impact." David Solomon, CEO, Goldman Sachs
"Why asking for feedback can be the key to your success" Forbes Magazine
The research proves what we already know: feedback can be valuable and offer an amazing learning opportunity. According to Gallup, managers who offer frequent and continuous feedback influence their employees to be 3.2 times more likely to strongly agree they are motivated to do outstanding work, and 2.7 times more likely to be engaged at work.?
Ok we get it, feedback overkill.... a whole edition on one subject. Boring.
Well - here is your homework, If you liked this edition or maybe you didn't and you think 'The Switch' would be better having a bit more variety ... practice giving me some feedback. Before you do though, take a look at this, it will help you not hurt my feelings.
