Swiftlet Joins the “Friends of Pannana” Event, Celebrating Accessibility in Film

On August 27, 2024, Mrs. Ornvera Buranasin, Chief Commercial Officer of Swiftlet Co., Ltd., attended the “Friends of Pannana” event at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center. The gathering celebrated Pannana, an innovative app that enables visually impaired individuals to enjoy movies in theaters alongside sighted audiences.

Swiftlet Co., Ltd. has been involved in the development of the Pannana app from the very beginning, helping to bring this important project to life. Pannana uses automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology to sync with a movie’s soundtrack, delivering real-time audio descriptions that narrate the on-screen action. This allows users to immerse themselves in the story through sound, creating a more inclusive movie-going experience.

Organized by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation in partnership with the Together Foundation for the Disabled and Society, the event marked seven years of Pannana’s success. Attendees, including the press, partners, and visually impaired moviegoers, had the chance to experience the latest GDH film, “Wiman Nam,” entirely through Pannana’s audio descriptions.

Ms. Poranee Poopraseart, Assistant Fund Manager of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, expressed her gratitude to the partners who have helped make Pannana possible. She acknowledged their dedication to improving accessibility and inclusivity in media and presented awards to those who have contributed to the app’s journey.
