Swiftageddon
There seems to be only one important thing that the Internet is talking about this week. So if you can’t beat the Swifties, join ‘em:
1/5 Swiftageddon takes over NFL
Taylor Swift’s influence truly knows no bounds. After being photographed attending the latest Kansas City Chiefs game (watching rumoured beau Travis Kelce), a spokesperson for Fanatics, the NFL's official e-commerce partner, reported earlier this week that sales from Kelce's No. 87 jersey spiked nearly 400% on Sunday. 2/5 Travis Kelce’s gains 1.3M followers
Travis Kelce may be one of the most popular NFL players, but he’s never met the force of the Swifties before. Since Taylor was spotted watching Travis play last Sunday, his social media following has grown significantly. Between Friday and Saturday, he gained about 15,000 Instagram followers. On Sunday alone, he gained over 27,000 followers and now has over 3 million followers on Instagram, a 276% increase. Kelce also gained more than 570,000 followers on TikTok and another 25,000 on X since Saturday. Combined, the number of people following him increased by 1.3 million. (Via SportsKeeda)
3/5 Is the Swift Storm blocking important news?
The Swift Storm that has taken over social media has unearthed the realities of social media algorithms. Of course, social media algorithms are designed to capture and keep attention, but it’s apparent that this is at the detriment of, arguably, real news. Over the past week, you probably know Taylor Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs game, is rumoured to be dating Travis Kelce, and left the game in a convertible with him. But did you know the Writers Guild of America had reached a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, or AMPTP, after a nearly 150-day strike? (Via Fast Company)

4/5 Heinz launches ‘Seemingly Ranch’ sauce inspired by Taylor Swift tweet
Ever wondered what condiments Taylor likes? Turns out, it’s Ketchup and (seemingly) Ranch! Heinz had the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever, and made a condiment inspired by the Blondie, called “Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch”. Not only this, but the Empire State Building also lit up its lights to red and white in honour of the combination. (Via Forbes)
5/5 Taylor Swift for President?
Taylor Swift has used her Instagram (with 273M followers) to encourage her fans to register to vote. Following a post on National Voter Registration Day, Vote.org saw 13,000 people every 30 minutes register to vote. Taylor has an incredibly loyal fanbase of Switfies, many of whom are just becoming legal voting age. The singer has regularly used her platform to encourage her followers and fans to take an interest in politics, and share the importance of understanding the goings on of the US government.
