A swollen finger is a sign of fluid buildup or inflammation of the tissues or joints of the finger. Finger swelling can result from serious infections, inflammation, trauma, and other abnormal processes.
Causes
Finger swelling can be caused by the following conditions:
· Injury: Broken bone, laceration or blunt force trauma, such as dog bite.
· Ligament or cartilage injury
· Repetitive stress injury
· Bursitis
· Carpel tunnel syndrome
· Cellulitis
· Ganglion cyst
· Paronychia
· Osteoarthritis
· Rheumatoid arthritis
· Septic arthritis
Symptoms
Finger swelling may occur with other symptoms including:
· Bruising or other discoloration
· Chills
· Fatigue
· Fever
· Lumps or bumps along the finger
· Numbness or tingling from nerve compression
· Painful or tender areas
· Pus-filled cracks or lacerations
· Reduced range of motion or movement in a joint
· Stiffness
· Swollen joints
· Inability to move the finger
· Severe pain
· Visual deformity
HOMOEOPATHIC REMEDIES

When swelling of fingers is concerned there are many effective medicines available in Homoeopathy , but the selection depends upon the individuality of the patient , considering mental and physical symptoms.
ACTEA SPICATA: Swelling and pain in joints of fingers from arthritis. Tearing pain in fingers. Swelling in joints from slight exertion.
ANTIMONIUM CRUDUM: Swelling and pain in fingers due to rheumatoid arthritis. Arthritic pain in joints of fingers. Pain worse from cold weather or washing hands in cold water. Thick white coated tongue is characteristic to Antimonium crudum.
ARNICA MONTANA: Pain and swelling from injury. Bruised pain, better hanging down arms. Want of strength in the hands on grasping. Writer’s cramps, cramps in fingers.
CALCAREA FLORICA: Pain in fingers from ganglion cyst. Ganglion at the back of the wrist. Gouty enlargements of the joints of the fingers.
CAULOPHYLLUM: Rheumatism of small joints. Severe drawing, erratic pain and stiffness in fingers. Erratic pains, changing place every few minutes. Cutting pain in finger joints on closing hands. Sore nodes on finger joints.
CAUSTICUM: Dull, tearing pain in arms. Numbness of hands. Pain worse from cold and better from warmth. Finger pain due to carpel tunnel syndrome.
FLOURIC ACID: Thumbs and fingers inflamed. Sensation of a splinter under the nails. Throbbing pain.
HEPAR SULPHURICUM: Heat, throbbing and swelling of fingers from whitlow. Worse at night, preventing sleep, must hold the finger.
HYPERICUM PERFORATUM: Swelling of fingers due to injury or carpel tunnel syndrome. Joints feel bruised. Numbness, crawling, burning in hands. Pain, especially in tip of fingers.
LEDUM PAL: Pain and swelling in fingers from needle pricks.
PLUMBUM METALLICUM: Weakness and painful lameness of arms. Tremor, numbness, and tingling in fingers.
RHUS TOXOCODENDRON: Pain and swelling of fingers from tendinitis. Pain worse from rest and better from movement. Tearing pain and stiffness of fingers. Loss of power in fingers, crawling sensation in the tip of fingers.
RUTA GRAVEOLENS: Pain and weakness in arms and fingers. Pain from ganglion cyst and carpel tunnel syndrome. Bursitis. Numbness in hands and fingers. Pain and swelling from injury to tendons.
SARSAPARILLA: Burning on the sides of fingers. Ulceration around the ends of fingers. Deep cracks in fingers.
SILICEA: Swelling and pain due to whitlow. Formation of pus.
