The Sweet Spot

The Sweet Spot

There’s something magical about that moment when everyone is dialed in. When your energy is high, and it feels like you and your work have never been better. It’s unbeatable. We all know what that feels like. We know what it looks like. We often even know the special ingredients that help increase our chances of getting into that zone.

So, why do we spend so much time not in that sweet spot of inspiration and innovation?

Often, it’s even worse than that—we convince ourselves that the grind is what makes us better. That the hard work that hurts and feels bad is actually good for us. Growth through adversity. Trials and tribulations. I can’t count how many times I’ve looked back at intense, challenging periods in my career and reflected on how we were ‘forged through fire’ during those moments. It’s true—science backs this up. Our memories form more deeply under duress, and we tend to recall negative experiences more easily as part of our survival instincts.

But what if we prioritized that “feel-good” kind of work? What if we leaned into the joy and satisfaction that come from partnering with people who light us up and bring out our best? Not every moment is going to be high-energy, high-vibe. But there’s so much to learn from leaning into what feels good and telling the universe, without hesitation: “Yes, please. More of this!”
