The Sweet Spot

The Sweet Spot

By David Haines

I keep reading articles upon #health and #diet in newspapers and magazines.?I can’t stop myself.?They all take a similar line:?

1.?How everything you know about general food advice is wrong.

2.?Here is some new advice which is great (which also looks quite general but don’t worry about that).

3.?You need to move from the general advice of Point 1 to the new general advice of Point 2 contained in the article.

4.?Hey Presto!?- all is now well, because the article says so.

If only it was so simple.?Everyone would be in optimal health.

What the diet industry fails to consider is that is tackling the wrong problem.?They consider the problem to be the diet – if you’re not on the superstar diet of the day, you are doomed to failure.?If you follow the general rules of the diet for a while indeed all is probably well.?Until you stop.?Then you resume the old way, or a different way and the weight will come back.?This is not a sustainable path.

Current research estimates that between 95-99% of the diets we try do not work – we put weight back on when we stop.?That’s some failure rate.?If those figures applied to the safety of the flights we take – well, we wouldn’t be flying anywhere.

The right problem to tackle is the individual – what they need and how they respond to food.?The problem is, the diet industry doesn’t see as individuals.?They can’t.?We come in different ages, sizes and shapes and reactions to foods – variables not considered in dieting.?So how we deal with them?

We can deal with them by tracking our #glucose.?At Glucose Republic we will provide a number of ways of tracking what is yours – your own glucose.?It contains secrets, the principal being how you respond to food, as opposed to how the diet thinks an average response works.?The difference is surprising.?In my case, Greek food looks pretty good for me, a fish, beans and chips from a reputable supermarket less so.?My friends and family differ in response, as will you.?The only way to know is to track your glucose.

The answers contain surprises – I know.?What works for us isn’t going to come from a general diet book, or from the articles I can’t seem to stop myself reading.?It doesn’t mean we have to cut out all of the foods we like – we need to understand their impact and what works at an individual level.?The results may surprise you.?In my case there’s a sweet spot – I can eat more of the some of the things I liked anyway.?Diets have a habit of taking things away without knowing what works for you.?So there is a path to food freedom and taking control.?Glucose Republic can provide it.

Knowing what works for you makes you feel, look and be better, and you get to enjoy foods you like.?I would call that a sweet spot.??
