In was originally a candy factory.? Located in Old Town Manassas, Virginia, Hopkins Candy Factory made candy here and sold the candy to consumers.? The factory eventually closed, and it changed ownership until it became a factory.? No.? It did not manufacture candy.? It became a factory for art.
Welcome to the Virginia Art Factory, simply known as ARTfactory, is a place where art is not only made, but it is where art lives.? The first floor is the art gallery.? It is here where artists, mainly from the Manassas region, display their works.? The gallery also hosts artist’s receptions and occasionally hosts programs and open mics.? If you think that you see everything in one visit, please note that the exhibits do change monthly so you will need to plan many return visits.
Why is it called ARTfactory?? Why is it not simply called an art gallery?
As mentioned, it is not only where art is displayed.? It is also where art is taught and where art is created.? On the second floor, you will find the offices and classrooms.? Yes, classrooms where art is taught.? You may think that art painting is the only thing taught at the ARTfactory, but you can also take acting classes and dance classes.? You are probably wondering how the ARTfactory can teach acting classes.? On the third floor is event space.? In this event space, there is theater.? No.? This is not Carnegie Hall or Ford’s Theater.? It is a place where you can catch a show.? It is also a place where you can dance with your partner, and you also a display place for events like SuperCon.
The Virginia Art Factory is located at 9419 Battle Street in Manassas, Virginia across the railroad tracks from the train station.? The building is easily accessible for wheelchairs.? They do not have their own parking, but there is plenty of free parking within one block of the building.? While some events are free to the public, some events do charge admission.?
