SWEET CHEATING

I think the best way to amass a lot of money now, is to become a book publisher. Trap innocent young authors, promising them the haven and world of sales promise, to publish your book at a very huge cost ranging from 40 K small books to unlimited for larger novels. They are so sincere that they will give you a Delta chart too to show your sale. Later a number of time they will suck your blood, from you in the name of marketing, book bazars, Amazon click etc and what not. The author, drown more and more, wasting money and finally never get back any money, which they call as royalties? nor their book will see much of daylight.

Recently, one young publisher, starting his company, promising me the sky, requested for my story. Long time back, I had stopped making hard copies, or dealing with publishers. Unfortunately., I wanted some hardcopy book, written specially for children, to be published. After writing so much crime story, it is funny, that I failed to SEE THE VERY NAME OF THE PUBLISHER HAD A WORD -- CUNNING.

So same story. I sank 45 K rupees and more and more. The pity is not the loss or gain of money! They were especially for children, AND I WANTED EVERY CHILD TO READ THEM. Thus, about 400 to 500 copies I myself purchased, with my own money, and got them distributed, to various schools free, so that some children at least can read.

This, I am not writing, as a SOB STORY OF MINE. PLEASE DON’T FEEL PITY FOR ME. As everyone knows, that a long time after my retirement too, I keep writing, just as my hobby. I won’t call it as my passion. I am very comfortable, with self-publishing. But, I find a number of young authors, of poem or stories, are getting trapped. ?We can say the latest honey trap, for the love of seeing their work on print. Hence, this warning, THERE MAY BE GOOD PUBLISHERS TOO. UNFORTUNATELY, IT IS DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY THEM.
