Sweaty Charlotte
So I'm sure you have heard by now, but our beloved city was recently named the sweatiest city in the country! We have been on several top 10 lists lately, but this one caught us off guard. At first, most people probably think it's a bad thing to be known as sweaty BUT if you actually look at the reasons, it's actually not bad.
The study conducted by University of Rhode Island and sponsored by Honeywell Fans used atmospheric data to determine hotspots throughout the country based on average Summer temps. They also looked at the proximity to large bodies of water, number of athletics/sports in the area per capita and other factors that lead to sweat such as fitness centers.
Let's start with the 'bad': it's hot and humid! The past few Summers especially have been almost unbearable for some of us. I think we can agree that it's HOT here and that may make people sweat a little more than other places across the country. (But what about Columbia, SC... I know for sure they are hotter and sticker than Charlotte.)
Now the good: we have several sports teams in the area which equals FUN; we have a few bodies of water around (Lake Wylie, Lake Norman and the Catawba River) which also equals FUN; and we must have tons of fitness centers which means we are FIT!
Although this may be one of the more interesting rankings for Charlotte, I think it shows we have an abundance of fun activities to do and we look good doing it (since we sweat at one of our many fitness centers)!
