Swathes of Weald land go up for auction

Four major parcels of land in the beautiful Weald area of Sussex are set to go under the auctioneer’s gavel later this month. (wed, Sept 22)

All are among 161 lots in the latest auction being held by one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK, Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.

They are being offered at the firm’s latest auction which ends on Wednesday, 22 September.

Land at Little Crabden Wood & Horsemans Wood, Johns Cross, Mountfield, near Robertsbridge is offered jointly with Ted Handley & Co with a freehold guide price of £110,000 to £120,000.

Auction Appraiser Chris Milne said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to acquire more than 27 acres of land a short distance from the popular town of Battle, made up of predominantly woodland and some grassland.

“The land, extending to approximately 10.96 hectares (27.09 acres), is also home to a derelict building and a lake which runs into the River Line which follows the boundary to the north of the site.”

Land West of the A21 at Boarzell/Swiftsden in London Road, Hurst Green, near Etchingham has a freehold guide of £70,000 to £80,000.

It is located less than a mile-and-a-half north of the village of Hurst Green and sits between two other residential dwellings. The land provides easy access to the surrounding area and further afield to London to the north and Hastings to the south.

Previously forming part of the wider Boarzell Estate, the land comprises of a variety of mature trees within and surrounding the site with open clear land, creating a park-like setting.

The rear of the site, extending to approximately 0.40 hectares (one acre), provides spectacular views over the High Weald. Also visible on site are solid foundations of former outbuildings which are no longer standing.

Land west of London Road in Mountfield, Robertsbridge, is also offered jointly with Ted Handley & Co, and is freehold guided £60,000 to £65,000.

Located to the west of London Road, the site extends to approximately 6.39 hectares (15.8 acres) and is made up of predominantly grassland with derelict wooden buildings at two points on the site.

Nearly six acres of predominantly woodland at Whiteland Wood, Sedlescombe is being offered jointly with Ted Handley & Co with a freehold guide price of £20,000 – £25,000.

Extending to approximately 2.32 hectares (5.74 acres) ,the land can be accessed via a public footpath off Moat Lane, Sedlescombe and also from Vicarage Lane, Westfield.

Sedlescombe is an ancient village and civil parish in the Rother district of East Sussex, on the B2244 road, about six miles north of Hastings and in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
