review: Yes, this is a book of fiction -- but it is based on real situations and real people in a real point in time. I know that swamp! I know those times! The author has put together an enjoyable story about a pre-teen/ early-teen guy who carves out a life for himself in the midst of an array of both approving and disapproving adults. The author has a good sense of realistic dialogue. Two adult friends of mine also read the story. We all recommend this book.
